Sobre la influenza Porcina. “Enseña al Ignorante, Desenmascara al Hipócrita”

LO QUE SI ES CIERTO DE LA INFLUENZA

Preguntas y respuestas sobre la gripe porcina 

P. ¿Qué es la gripe porcina?
R. Es una enfermedad respiratoria aguda sumamente contagiosa que normalmente afecta a los cerdos. Se propaga a través de pequeñas partículas en el aire o por contacto directo. 

La transmisión de la enfermedad se realiza por contacto a través de secreciones que contengan el virus (a través de la tos o el estornudo, así como por las descargas nasales).

Según la OMS no obstante que la morbilidad es alta, la mortalidad es baja: entre 1 y 4% de los animales afectados. La mayoría de los cerdos se recuperan tras unos 5 o 7 días tras la aparición de los síntomas. No todos los animales afectados presentan síntomas.

P. ¿Dónde se producen brotes de gripe porcina?
R. La gripe porcina es considerada endémica en Estados Unidos y también se ha informado de casos de brotes en cerdos en todo el mundo: América del Norte, América del Sur, Europa, África y partes de Asia.

P. ¿Cómo contraen el virus las personas?
R. La gente por lo general contrae el mal a través de contacto con cerdos, aunque se ha informado de algunos casos limitados de contagio entre humanos, cuando alguien que ya tiene influenza de algún tipo tiene contacto con la sepa de influencia porcina, lo que puede hacer que el virus mute hacia una sepa desconocida y por lo tanto difícil de identificar y combatir. La influenza de cualquier tipo se puede transmitir a través de la saliva o con superficies o materiales contaminados.

P. ¿Cómo llego a México y porque solo en México hay gente que ha muerto por gripe porcina.

R. Hasta el momento no se sabe cómo llego a México (sólo se sospecha que fue de Estados Unidos, pues allá desde hace décadas ha sido considerada como pandemia (ya tomaron medidas de alerta preventiva). Hasta el momento de los casos de influenza presentados y que han terminado en la muerte (cada año se presentan aunque esta temporada es tardía, normalmente termina el 30 de marzo) que si efectivamente son más que los del año anterior, es un virus cuya fuerza es al parecer mayor en México que en EU por alguna razón que aun se desconoce; en todo caso, en muy pocos de estos casos se puede afirmar con toda precisión que ha muerto gente de influenza PORCINA. Curiosamente los niños y ancianos, que son los que normalmente son más proclives a este tipo de enfermedad ahora no son los contagiados.

Como medida precautoria, los hospitales están recibiendo a todas las personas que presentan síntomas de gripe, influenza o cualquier tipo de enfermedades respiratorias, y se les están haciendo análisis para saber si lo que tienen es influenza o no, y si la tienen si es humana o porcina aviar, o de qué tipo.

En este momento se están llevando los análisis dentro y fuera de México (Centro de Control y Prevención de Enfermedades en Atlanta USA), pero lo cierto es que aun no se tiene información suficientemente sólida como para emitir un juicio contundente. 

La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) emitió el pasado 25 de abril un protocolo de actuación para los laboratorios clínicos con el fin de que se identifiquen cuando antes los casos positivos del virus A/H1N1 causante de los actuales casos de gripe porcina en México y Estados Unidos. A tal efecto, pidió también a los gobiernos mexicano y norteamericano que le envíen lo antes posible a sus laboratorios todas las muestras de casos sospechosos, a fin de conocer con certeza el problema y atenderlo con eficiencia y prontitud.

El sistema de alerta de epidemia establecido por la OMS, determina seis fases para informar a la comunidad internacional de una potencial amenaza. En estos momentos, la OMS sitúa a México en el grado 3 de alerta pandémica, esto es, cuando se considera que existe "poca o muy poca transmisión del virus de persona a persona". La etapa más grave, la 6, se declara cuando se confirma que existe una transmisión permanente de persona a persona. El 27 de abril esta misma organización cambio la fase de 3 a 4 lo que quiere decir que se tienen casos limitados y localizados de transmisión entre humanos. Ahora se sabe que la mayor parte de los brotes de influenza en general se ha presentado en la zona oriente y sur oriente (Xochimilco, Tlahuac y salida a Puebla).

De cualquier forma, lo mejor es prevenirse de contraer una gripe o influenza aunque sea común pues esto nos pone en situación de vulnerabilidad para en su caso captar el virus de la influenza porcina y que esto se combine y cree otra sepa nueva y por lo mismo indeterminada.

P. ¿Cuál es el riesgo de que se produzca una pandemia?
R. Desde que se identificaron los brotes de la gripe porcina en México y en Estados Unidos, en ambos lados se empezó a estudiar esta situación. En EU se han presentado unos 20 casos, aunque no ha habido muertes, lo que intriga a los expertos del Centro de Control y Prevención de Enfermedades en Estados Unidos. A los funcionarios de salud mexicanos les preocupa que la gripe porcina pueda convertirse en una cepa de fácil contagio entre los humanos. Para que esto ocurra, la influenza porcina se debería de combinar con un virus de gripe o influenza humana, hay quien dice que incluso podría mutar por sí solo a una forma transmisible a los humanos. Pero los expertos saben que no hay manera de pronosticar cuándo se desarrolla una cepa que desencadene una pandemia.

P. ¿Existe una vacuna?
R. En América del Norte –dado que viven de manera controlada con esta pandemia desde hace décadas- los cerdos son vacunados con regularidad contra la gripe porcina, pero no existe una vacuna para humanos. De cualquier manera, el virus de la gripe (común) evoluciona con rapidez, lo cual significa que las vacunas resultan inútiles, puesto que la capacidad protectora de las vacunas de influenza dependen principalmente de la cercanía y similaridad entre el virus de la vacuna y el virus que causa la epidemia. Por lo mismo, los funcionarios de salud dicen que no se sabe si la vacuna preparada para la gripe pueda proteger contra la gripe porcina.

Aunque la gente que haya recibido la vacuna contra la influenza es probable que no tenga protección contra la gripe porcina, sin embargo podría protegerla de adquirir la gripe o influenza común (tipo A en sus variantes). Si ya padecen gripe porcina, el haber stado vacunado contra la influenza humana reduce la posibilidad de que ambas se mezclen en una misma persona para crear una posible cepa que provoque una pandemia.

P. Qué puedo hacer para prevenirla?
R. 
Las probabilidades de contagio son muy bajas (0.004%, según datos recientes). Sin embargo se recomienda como medida preventiva:
• Evitar los cambios de temperatura y todo lo que hacemos normalmente para evitar la gripe o resfriado.
• Lavarse las manos más frecuentemente de lo normal.
• Al toser o estornudar use pañuelo desechable (no tire al aire libre los pañuelos desechables!, guárdelos en una bolsa de plástico cerrada y así deposítela en la basura). Si no tiene pañuelo desechable, use el ángulo del antebrazo y en cuanto pueda lávese, En todo caso, una vez que se lave de preferencia aplique alcohol (las mascarillas no son 100% efectivas solo ayudan algo a no expedir ni recibir saliva ni aliento).
• Evite asistir a lugares concurridos, ya que podría haber alguien con gripe o influenza de cualquier tipo, lo que podría más que nada colocarlo en situación de vulnerabilidad al contagiarlo de gripe o influenza de cualquier tipo.
• Evite contacto corporal con la gente de la que puede sospechar que tiene gripe o influenza.
• Ventile y permita la entrada del sol en lugares cerrados; mantenga limpios cocina y baños, juguetes, manijas, teléfonos, teclado de pc y objetos de uso compartido.

P. Cómo sé si es posible que tenga influenza de cualquier tipo?
R: Los síntomas más comunes son:
• Temperatura alta (39°C o más).
• Dolor de cabeza repentino e intenso
• Dolor muscular y/o de articulaciones fuertes.
• Tos seca intensa por más de 4 días.
• Dolor/ardor de garganta
• Escurrimiento nasal.
• Malestar y cansancio repentino y fuerte.
• En algunos casos puede presentarse vómito o diarrea y en casos extremos disfunción cardiovascular, convulsiones y pérdida de conciencia.

Si ya se siente uno enfermo y con alguno o algunos de estos síntomas, no salir de la casa para evitar contagiar a otros; repose; no se automedique, llame al médico, acuda con él o a su centro de salud.

Si ya tiene gripe o influenza, no salude de mano o beso. No comparta platos, vasos, cubiertos, alimentos o bebidas. Evite escupir al suelo o en superficies expuestas al medio ambiente. No use transportes públicos.

Transcurridas 24 horas sin síntomas, puede reiniciar sus labores regularmente.

P. ¿Qué otro tratamientos existe para la gripe porcina?
R. El virus de la Influenza de cualquier tipo parece responder al tratamiento con antivirales como el oseltamivir (Tamiflu, es el que se está usando en los hospitales públicos de la SS.) y zanamivir (Relenza).

P. ¿Es seguro comer productos porcinos?
R. La OMS afirma que se pueden comer productos porcinos preparados con precaución. El virus de la gripe porcina es eliminado cuando se cocina a más de 70 grados centígrados (más de 160°F).

CONCLUSIONES:

1.- La posibilidad de contagio es baja, pero Tratemos de hacer una vida normal pero NO ESTA POR DEMAS PREVENIR, tanto para nosotros como para los demás:
A) Si podemos evitar lugares concurridos y tener contacto con gentes que tengan síntomas de gripe o influenza, mejor.
B) Por nuestra parte, si nos sentimos con alguno o algunos de los signos de la gripe o la influenza mejor no salir y ver al médico para no ponernos peor y contagiar a los demás de lo que traemos, lo que los colocaría en estado de mayor vulnerabilidad.
C) No automedicarse.

2.- La Influenza es 100% previsible y CURABLE. No caigamos en paranoias, pero tampoco en negligencias.

Muchas gracias por la información sin amarillismo, ademas me alegra que no mencionen el cubreboca que es totalmente inútil, pues si la tela del cubreboca tiene aprox, 3 micras de abertura y el virus mide 80 a 100 nm, esto quiere decir que a través de la tela los virus pueden pasar en formación de carnaval bailando samba.
